Yoshida Himatsuri

Yoshida Himatsuri(吉田の火祭り) also known as Fire Festival is one of the three major unique Matsuri in Japan. It is held in August 26 and 27 at Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture. There are hundreds of bonfires that imitate Mt. Fuji and light up the night of Fujiyoshida. This is the sacred celemony of Sengen Shrine.

Tourist Info.
There is parking but the street will be closed around the shrine.
There are many food stands during Matsuri.
Fire starts at 18:30 to mid-night.
Be careful and don't put anything into the fire.
Date: August 26.

Yoshida Himatsuri

Yoshida no Himatsuri is one of the crazy fire festivals happens in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi. It has a history for over 400 years. About 3m tall bonfires are placed in all over the town of Fujiyoshida and burn just like the eruption of Mt. Fuji. This celemory is also known praying safty and quiet for Mt. Fuji.

It is very popular crazy Matsuri today. Town will be covered with full of flame. Also, Uniue Mikoshi of Sengen Shrine is very famous because it is the shape of Mt. Fuji.
