Yokosuka Castle

Travel Information

Yokosuka Castle is the ruin of Japanese Caslte which built in 1578 by Osuka under the order of Ieyasu.It was one of the very important castle for Tokugawa Ieyasu to against Takeda Shingen. After the death of Oda Nobunaga, and Takeda Family, Ieyasu was moved from Hamamatsu Castle to Sunpu Castle and this castle was owned by Osuka Family and in 1682, it became Nishio's Castle till the end of Edo period.

Yokosuka Castle

Yokosuka Castle is the hilltop castle which has not only both benefits of mountains and flatland castles, but also there are many late style of the castle at that time. It was built because of the fall of Takatenjin Castle by Takeda Katsuyori in 1574. Takatenjin Castle was the most important castle for all Enshu area. Ieyasu ordered to build a castle to keep his land safe from Takeda Katsuyori. Under the order of Ieyasu, Osuka Yasutaka built Yokosuka Castle in 1578. After Ieyasu ruled entire Japan, this castle was owned by Osuka Families and in 1682, it was taken by Nishio Family until the end of the Edo period.
