Taga Grand Shrine

Taga Grand Shrine (多賀大社) is one of the top shrines of Shiga prefecture. It was enshrined in 712. It enshrines Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto who create the land of Japan and many gods. Taga shrine was used to be a very popular spot because it is located on the road to Ise since the 15th century. The sacred area is surrounded by water which is very special here. This shrine is known as the long live and heath pray. It has a great garden in this shrine.

Taga Grand Shrine

Taga Shrine appears in Kojiki, the oldest written record in Japan. It enshrines Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto who create the land of Japan and many gods. This shrine was very popular especially around the 15th century because it enshrines the parents of Amaterasu Omikami, the god of Sun enshrines in Ise.

Current buildings are mostly constructed in 1808. The stone bridge was constructed in the early Edo period.
