Sasagawa House (旧笹川邸) is one of the largest farmers house located in Niigata. Sasagawa Family was very strong village mayor of this region. The main house was constructed in 1826. The entire size of this house is 618 square meters. That makes it one of the largest traditional houses remaining in Japan. There are over 35 rooms in this house. This house has the strong structure for heavy snow region, and beauty of simple architecture.

There are parking and restroom.
Admission: 500 yen for adult, 300 yen for under Junior high.
There is a group discount.
Time: 9:00 to 17:00 (last entry 16:10)
Closed: Monday (when monday is holiday, closed on next day.)

Sasagawa House

Sasagawa House is the traditional house located in Niigata city. There are 11 buildings that are registered as the national historical assets. The main house was constructed in 1826. Sasagawa family was very powerful farmer in this region. They were the mayor of 8 different villages and took care of 8000 koku land.

In 1953, famous British artist visited this house and prized this house as the best Japanese house he ever saw.

Soga and Hirasawa Memorial Museum
It is the memorial museum of Two famous villagers of this area.
