Sannai Maruyama Site (三内丸山遺跡) is one of the largest historical sites located in Aomori. This settlement existed in Jomon period (5,500 to 4,000 years ago). After the site research, people discovered many ruins of the house, graves, storages, and moats. Many earthenware, stonewares, and tools are also discovered here. Most of the information of Jomon period is based on the research of this site. There is a museum that displayed the relics of this site.

Sannai Maruyama Site
Sannai Maruyama Historical Site is one of the largest historical sites located in Aomori, Prefecture. This is the site of the settlement that existed during Jomon Period. Jomon period is the time in Japanese prehistory, traditionally dated between 5,500 to 4,000 years ago in Japan. There are 10 large buildings, and over 780 houses have existed in this settlement.

After the research, people found many ruins of pit dwellings, graves of adults and kids, dirt hills, a large watch tower, storage and many earthenwares, stonewares, and tools. The educational knowledge and information of Jomon period in Japan are based on the study of the relics of Sannai Maruyama Historical Site.

At the out side field, there are many restored pit dwellings and actual ruins. There is also the museum that displays many relics found at this site.
