Matsue Samurai House (松江武家屋敷) is a remaining original Samurai House located in Matsue, Shimane Pref. It was constructed in 1733. It preserves great condition of original building. The owner of this house was middle rank Samurai who took 600 koku. This Samurai house is one of few remaining Samurai House that preserved almost complete structure of original building. Therefore, it shows the serious life and restricted rule of Samurai life. It displays all kinds of life materials of Edo period.

There is no parking.

Admission: 300 yen for adult, and 150 yen for under junior and foreigners.

Oct. to Mar: 8:30 to 17:00 (Last entry 16:40)

Matsue Samurai House

This Samurai House was constructed in 1733. It was for middle rank Samurai who had 600 koku.

Omoya
… is the main house of Samurai. It has Shikiday Style Entrance and front side of the house was used for public relations. Therefore, it has very rich structure and decorations. However, backside of the house was very simple. This is the typical house of Samurai in Edo period.

It has a garden. However, unlike other Japanese garden, this is also very simple design. This is the sense of Samurai.

Nagayamon gate is a gate with residential zone.

The house displays all kinds of furnitures and daily life materials that represents the life style of Edo Period.
