Kodaiji Temple

Kodaiji Temple(高台寺) is located in western Kyoto city. It was established in 1598 by Hideyoshi's wife Nene. She built this temple for praying Hideyoshi. It is also Zen temple and Mausoleum of both Hideyoshi and Nene. It has a beautiful Japanese style garden that represents the art of this period.

Kodaiji Temple
Kodaiji Temple is named after Nene, Toyotomi Hideyoshi's wife. In 1598, Toyotomi Hideyoshi died and his wife Nene tried to build a temple for him in Kyoto. However, Kyoto was so tight, she built in eastern Kyoto where had more space. Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first Tokugawa Shogun, sponsored her to built a beautiful temple. In 1606, it was established.

In the temple, it has a beautiful garden that you can enjoy the beautiful Japanese art of Kyoto. It has a dry sand art, bamboo groove, tea house, small temples and waterfalls that most of the Japanese gardens have. The tea house was removed from Fushimi castle.
