Torigoe Matsuri (鳥越まつり) is one of the exciting Mikoshi Matsuri in Tokyo. It is held at the nearest Sunday from June 9 by Torigoe Shrine. The main feature of this Matsuri is Senkan Mikoshi which is the Mikoshi of Torigoe Shrine. This Mikoshi is 4 tons of weight which is the heaviest Mikoshi in Tokyo. Mikoshi parade starts in the morning and travels all over the Towns of Torigoe and returns to the shrine. At the returning, The mikoshi will be decorated with lanterns. The returning Mikoshi is called "Miyairi," and it is the highlight of this festival.

There are many food stands around the shrine during the festival.
You can use restroom of the shrine.

It will be mass of people in front of the shrine at night.

... has the history of 1,350 years. It enshrines Yamato Takerunomikoto.

Not only the main Mikoshi of the shrine, but there are many Mikoshi from all the towns which belong to the shrine. Senkan Mikoshi, the main Mikoshi, will be carried by people of each town. They pass the Mikoshi just like the Olympic torch, and the Mikoshi travels all the towns and returns to the shrine.
