Kameido Tenjin Shrine

Kameido Tenjin Shrine (亀戸天神社) is located east side of Tokyo Metro. It is famous for its Fuji Flower. Kameido Tenjin was built in 1646 to enshrine Sugawara no Michizane, the God of Education. Fuji blooms in the end of April to beginning of May, and many people visit to enjoy Fuji. During the season, there is Fuji festival and many food stands opens around the shrine.

There is no parking. Light up Fuji at GW.

Kameido Tenjin is respected as Tenjin-sama of Edo Down Town since Edo period. It was built in 1646 by Sugawara Ootorii Nobusuke, the descendant of Michizane.

The Shogun at the time, Ietsuna settled Kameido as the recovering center of Meireki's fire disaster which burned 3/4 of Edo town, and built new shrine in current location. In 1662, the shrine built the main shrine, paths, bridge and gardens by following the order of the main Tenmangu at Kyushu.

Fuji Flower
Fuji Flower of Kameido Tenjin is one of the most famous Fuji spots in Tokyo. It blooms in the end of April. Fuji and Japanese garden with ponds are great match well in this shrine. Also, in February, Ume blooms as well. Both of them have festival during the seasons.
