Arai Sekisho (新居関所) is one of the 4 major checkpoints of Tokaido and Nakasendo. It was a very important to check out all travelers on Tokaido. Arai Sekisho was built in 1600, and the current one is 1855. It is the only remaining Sekisho Building in all Japan. It displays the all the officers of Sekisyo. During the Edo period, Shogun highly controlled the importing guns and escaping ladies.
The museum displays many old travelers carrying items.

There are parking and restroom.
Admission: 310 yen for Adult, 100 yen for kids.
There is a group discount.
Time: 9:00 to 17:00 (Last entery 16:30)

Arai Sekisho
Arai Sekisho is one of the most important checkpoints on Tokaido Road. It is located in Arai, Shizuoka Prefecture. The building is only remaining Sekisyo buildings in Japan. This building was constructed in 1855. It is registered as the special historical site of Japan. Inside of the building, there are dolls to show the officers of the Sekisho. Each Dolls has the task to check out the all the travelers of Tokaido Road. During the Edo period, importing guns to Edo, and escaping the wives of Daimyo were highly restricted and controlled.

At the museum, it displays all items of Sekisyo, guns, armors, and documents. Also, on the 2nd floor, it shows all kinds of hand carrying items of old travelers in Japan.
