Somaro (相馬樓) is a classic restaurant located in Sakata, Yamagata Prefecture. It offers the Maiko (Geisya) Dance Performance that you can enjoy lunch with their dance performance. Maiko perform their dance at 2 p.m. as well. Somaro is reconstructed after 1894 earthquake. It was used to be the hotel and restaurants. This house also displays many collections of art works such as panting.

There is a parking.
Admission:700 yen for Adult, 500 yen for High and Junior High School. 300 for kids. Free for under 3 years old. There is a group discount.
Business Hour: 10:00 to 17:00
Closed: Wednesday.
During the Hina Matsuri, it will be open but no meal are served.
Watching Maiko (Geisya) Dance Performance: additional 300 yen.
Dance Performance starts at 2 p.m.

Special Lunch Box: Additional 3500 for each person (minimum from 2 persons)
You can enjoy Maiko Dance Performance during the lunch. Reservation required.

Somaro

Somaro is a classic restaurant and cafe where you can also enjoy Maiko (Geisya) Dance Performance. It is located in Sakai, Yamagata Prefecture. Because Sakata was the central port town of all Tohoku region, Sakata was highly developed. According to their development, Geisya and other culture came here from Kyoto. The building was reconstructed in 1984 and registered as the national cultural assets.

Relaxing Living Room
This is the living room that we use tea room where you can enjoy tea. In March 3, at the other side of the room, The large Hina Dolls will be displayed. Those dolls are from Edo period. Some of them are used for Oshin.

Large Guest Room
Maiko Dance is performed in this place. Tatami is colored in red called Benibanazome.
The placement is the pattern of Ichimatsu. This pattern means the bringing the good business to you.

Storage
It displays many traditional Hina Dolls from Edo period.

Art Gallery
The art works of Yumeji Takehisa and Tessai Tomioka are displayed here.
