Hachimanyama Castle (八幡山城) is a mountain castle located in Omi-Hachiman. It was built by Toyotomi Hidetsugu, the nephew of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, in 1585. Mt. Hachiman is 286m high and located right next to Lake Biwa. The view of the top has great view of Lake Biwa and all Omi area. There is a temple which dedicated to Hidetsugu.

There is a rope-way.
Admission: 800 yen for round trip. Half the price for Kids.
Open: 9:00 to 17:00

Detailed Travel Guide for Hachimanyama Castle

Type: Mountain.
Built in: 1585 by Toyotomi Hidetsugu.
Class: Ruins.

The baileys and stone walls are well preserved. From the each bailey, you can have a great view of Shiga and Lake Biwa.

At the Honmaru, Zuiryuji Temple which was found by the mother of Hidetsugu, was removed from Kyoto.
