Meiji Restoration
Shieikan Dojo (試衛館) is the ruins where Tennenrishinryu Dojyo (天然理心流) is used be. Tennenrishinryu is one of the most popular sword style in Japan today. The major sword masters of Shinsengumi (新撰組) such as Isami Kondo(近藤勇), Toshizo Hijikata(土方歳三), and Soji Okita(沖田総司) were trained this sword style. In this Dojo other sword masters like Hajime Saito(斉藤一) and Shinpachi Nagakura (永倉新八) were also belong to this dojo as guest sword masters. There is only the road and Inari shrine is still the same as when they were here. However, about 150 years ago, many great Samurai were here to train their sword.

If you are big fun of Shinsengumi, you must visit here to feel their soul. Shieikan is the dojo of Tennenrishinryu sword style. About 150 years ago in the end of Edo period, those sumurai masters of Shinsengumi were here to train their sword.
The sword masters who are belong to Shieikan Dojo:
Isami Kondo (近藤勇): the head quoter of dojo and the commander of Shinsengumi. Sword style "Tennenrishinryu (天然理心流)"
Toshizo Hijikata (土方歳三): Mokuroku (目録, higher rank) and the vice commander of Shinsengumi. Sword style "Tennenrishinryu (天然理心流)"
Soji Okita (沖田総司): Menkyo Kaiden (免許皆伝, the master) and chief instructor of the Dojo. The captain of 1st unit of Shinsengumi. Sword style "Tennenrishinryu (天然理心流)"
Shinpachi Nagakura (永倉新八): The guest sword master of the dojo. The captain of 2nd unit of Shinsengumi. Sword style "ShintoMunenryu (神道無念流)"
Hajime Saito (斉藤一): The guest sword master of the dojo. The captain of 3rd unit Shinsengumi. Sword style "Mugairyu (無外流)"
Genzaburo Inoue (井上源三郎): Menkyo Kaiden (免許皆伝, the master). The captain of 6th unit of Shinsengumi. Sword style "Tennenrishinryu (天然理心流)"
