Baien of Kitanotenmangu (北野天満宮梅苑) is popular Ume, Japanese plum, garden of Kyoto. There are 50 kinds 1,500 Ume trees in this garden. From the beginning of February to middle of March, beautiful Ume flowers bloom.

Opens only Ume Season.
Admission: 600 yen for adult, 300 yen for kids. There is a group discount.
Open: 10:00 to 16:00

Ume is well related to Sugawara no Michizane who enshrines at Tenmangu Shrine.

“東風(こち)吹かば 匂ひをこせよ 梅の花 主なしとて 春な忘れそ”
“When Eastern wind blows, I will feel your incense. So, you must bloom flowers every Spring.”
