Gikimi Castle was constructed in early 15th century by Gosamaru who is the famous castle architecture in Okinawa that time. The mountain is about 120m tall and used Limestone and created the great stone walls. The gusuku fortress has two inner courts, each with an arched gate. This is Okinawa's first stone arch gate featuring the unique keystone masonry of the Ryukyus.
Because of its historical vale, it is registered as Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu of UNESCO World Heritage Site and the national historic site.
