Yonezawa Chitose Sakura (米沢の千歳桜) is over 700 years old Benihigan Zakura located western Aizu-Wakamatsu. It is 14m tall and about 20m wide. It bloom in the middle of April, and many people visit here to enjoy this beautiful old Sakura.

There is no parking, but there is parking space. No restroom, no hanami party.

0. at Aizuwakamatsu Station.
1. use Tadami Line to Negishi.
2. walk south west (30 min.)

Access from Tokyo:
By Car - Use Tohoku Express way to Ban-etsu express way, to Aizu-Wakamatsu.
By Train - Use JR Shinkansen to Koriyama. Use JR Ban-etsu west Line to Aizu-Wakamatsu.

Detailed Travel Guide for Yonezawa Chitose Sakura

The tree was named after the princess name Chitose, and planted by Tomitsuka in 1273.

It is also called "Planting Sakura" because it bloom when farmers starts planting.
