Yokote Castle

Yokote Castle is a mountain castle located in Yokote, Akita Prefecture. It was constructed in late Sengoku Period by Onodera clan. Later, Tomura clan moved in this castle and ruled until the end of Edo period. In side of Tenshu, the main tower is a local history museum.

There are parking and restroom.

Admisstion: 100 yen.
Time: 9:00 to 16:30
Period: Apr. 1 to Nov. 30 and February during Kamakura Festival.

0. at Omagari Station.
1. use JR Ou Line to Yokote Station.
2. walk east.

Yokote Castle
Type: Mountain castle
Built in: Sengoku period.
Class: Ruins.

Yokote Castle has no record that proofs the year of the construction finished. It was already here during the Sengoku period. This castle was constructed by Yokote clan and later it becomes the main castle of Onodera clan. After the battle of Sekigahara, 1600, Onodera clan lost this castle, and Satake clan became the lord of this castle. Today, the Baileys and structures of this castle are remaining. There is a reconstructed castle that used as a local history museum. However, there was no Tenshu tower existed in this castle.
