Shoryuji Castle (勝竜寺城) is a flatland castle located in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto. It is Hosokawa Gracia, the daughter of Akechi Mitsuhide related spot. Hosokawa Tadaoki and Gracia married at this castle and live for several years here. It was built in 1339. In 1568, Oda Nobunaga and Miyoshi 3 heads fought at this castle.

Detailed Travel Guide for Shoryuji Castle

Type: Flatland.
Built in: 1339.
Class: Ruins.

Legend said, this castle was built in 1339 by Hosokawa Yoriharu during Nanboku era. He built this castle to watch the southern imperial court.

In 1568, when Oda Nobunaga moved to Kyoto, he attacked this castle. After fall of this castle, Nobunaga defeated Miyoshi 3 heads to Awa.

In 1578, Hosokawa Tadaoki and Gracia married at this castle and live for several years here.

In 1582, Honnojinohen happens and Akechi Mitsuhide took this castle. After the battle of Yamazaki, Mitsuhide escaped to this castle. However, Hideyoshi attacked this castle. So, he run to Sakamoto Castle, but he was killed by farmers.

It was abandoned in 1649.
