The moat of Nakanomon gate (中ノ門堀) is the ruins of Kawagoe Castle. It is a western side of the castle. In 1639, because Kawagoe castle was very important to protect northern Edo castle, it was extended by Matsudaira Nobutsuna, the lord of Kawagoe. Today, only moat remains.

There is no parking or restroom.

The moat of Nakano mon Gate is a protection of western side of Kawagoe Castle. It was 7m deep and 18m wide moat. It was used to be 3 of interlaced moats to protect castle effectively.
