Katsuyama Samurai House (勝山武家屋敷) is a remaining Samurai House of Katsuyama. It is located in Maniwa city, Okayama Pref. This house was built in 1764 for Watanabe Family. Watanabe family was Samurai with 160 koku which is very high class for Samurai. They became one of Karo for Katsuyama domain. The house is preserved in great condition and in Kura, the storage, their armors and weapons are displayed.

Access to Maniwa Area

Terminal Station: Chugoku Katsuyama Station.
Access from Okayama:
By car, use Okayama Expressway to Chugoku Expressway, to Mimasaka Ochiai. drive north.
By Train, use JR Tsuyama Line to Tsuyama, use JR Himeshin Line to Chugoku Katsuyama.

The size of the residence is 827 square meters. There is great Nagaya gate, Omoya and Kura. Omoya, the main house, has 12 rooms. Even the house was very large, interiors are very simple which tells you how Samurai loved the simple design. It was called "Wabi."
