Hanami at Yasukuni Shrine

Travel Information

Yasukuni Shrine is one of the most popular hanami(花見) spots in Tokyo. There are about 600 Sakura (桜, Cherry Blossom), and the announcement of Cherry Blossom is based on how much Sakura blooms in Yasukuni Shrne. During the end of March to beginning of April, there is Sakura festival. In Sakura festival, there is Sumo match, and many interesting events are held. Also, for Yozakura, many lanterns are placed in the Shrine.

Tourist Info.
Lanterns are up for 24 hours. Many food stands will open.

0. at Tokyo Station
1. walk north to Tozai Line Otemachi station (4 min.)
2. use Tozai Line to Kudanshita (5 min.)
3. walk northwest (5 min.)

Hanami at Yasukuni Shrine

Sakura Festival at Yasukuni Shrine is very exciting because you can enjoy Sumo match. 200 Sumo Wresters including Yokozuna will join this events. At night, you can enjoy Yozakura with Japanese style lanterns.

In the shrine, no party allowed.
