There was a Jail at this place until 1975.
Yayoi Period
When Nakano Ward was demolished in 1983, the remains of ancient village of 260 houses was discovered both on and around the site. Dating from Yayoi period some 1,800 years ago, the dwellings were of a dugout type. As the excavations progressed, items from as far back as 13,000 years ago too the 19th century were also unearthed.
