Ohara Shrine (大原神社) and Ohara no Sato (大原の里) is the birthplace of Fujiwara no Kamatari. Kamatari is the first of Fujiwara clan. He was born in 614 and helped Emperor Tenji for his revolution. Fujiwara clan had controlled the imperial palace for over 10,000 years.

Nakatomi no Kamatari was born at this place Fujiwara in 614. Kamatari supported Nakano Oenooji and help his devolution, Taika no kaishin. In 669, Emperor Tenji gave him the highest official rank of the imperial court. He became Fujiwara, and his Fujiwara clan controlled the imperial court for over 1,000 years.
