Wakabayashi House (村上・若林家住宅) is one of the remaining Samurai Housein Murakami, Niigata. Wakabayashi family took 150 koku in Edo period. The house was constructed around 1800. It is Kayabuki roof, L shape house. It is very popular medium class Samurai House.

There is parking and restroom.
Admission: 500 yen for adult, 250 yen for students.
There is a group discount.
Open: 9:00 to 16:30

Wakabayashi House was constructed over 200 years ago. It is preserved in great condition and show the life of middle class Samurai. Therefore, it is designated as the national important cultural assets.

It takes Kiritsuma Style House and great Shikidai entrance that only high class Samurai could have.

Doma and Itanoma has great Irori, Japanese fireplace.

It has also a beautiful Japanese gardens with great Pine Trees.
