Shibata's Ashigaru Nagaya (新発田足軽長屋) is one of few remaining Samurai Apartments. It is located in Shibata, Niigata. There are 8 residential spaces. The low rank Samurai used to live in this space. This Ashigaru Nagaya is very few existed Nagaya House in Japan. It is registered as the national important cultural assets. It was constructed in 1842.

Admission: 700 yen for adult, 300 yen for under junior high.
Close: Wed. on Jan. and Feb.
Time: 9:00 to 17:00 (16:30 from Nov. to Mar.)
Ticket is the same is Shimizuen garden.

Shibata's Ashigaru Nagaya is one of few remaining Ashigaru Nayaga building. Ashigaru is the lowest class of Samurai. This building is the apartment for them, and there are 8 residential spaces. The each residence was borrowed by the castle lord of Shibata. Each residence has dinning rooms, kitchen, small rooms and a huge room. It shows the life style of lowest rank of Samurai.
