The ruins of the Sen no Rikyu's House (千利休屋敷跡) is located in Sakai, Osaka. Sen no Rikyu is the most famous tea master in the world. He established the tea style, Sado-Senke, and spread the world of tea into Japan. Sen no Rikyu was born and grown in Sakai. In this ruins, there is well that still remains in original.

The ruin of Sen no Rikyu house

Sen no Rikyu was born in Sakai Imaichi Machi in 1522. He was the first son of Totoya, very rich fish market. When he was 17 years old, he joined the tea school of Takeno Joou, and created his own style of tea called "Wabi Tea." He contacted Oda Nobunaga as tea consultant and instructor. Later, he became private tea master of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. He became the most powerful tea master in Japan. However, he made Hideyoshi so upset once, and he was ordered to commit Seppuku.

There is a well that remains original.
