300 old traditional house

Okane House (大鐘家) is one of the traditional house located in Makinohara, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is about 300 years old house and registered as the national important cultural asset. It is also known as the flower house.

There are parking and restoom.
Admission: 400 JPY (During Hydrangea Season: 700 JPY, Sep. to Nov.: 500 JPY)
Time: 9:00 to 17:00 (Last entry: 16:30)

Detailed Travel Guide

Okane House was constructed about 300 years ago. Okane family was one of Samurai of Shibata Katsuie. In 1597, 7th lord of Okane family moved to this place and became Samurai of Tokugawa Shogun. The main house and the gate is registered as the national important cultural assets.

It has a beautiful flower garden. Especially, during the rainy season, beautiful Hydrangea blooms.
