Lake Ashino (芦ノ湖, ashinoko) is caldera lake in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. The lake is known for its great views of Mt. Fuji and its numerous hot springs. Several pleasure boats and ferries travels the lake. You can also enjoy fishing, boat riding and hiking in this lake. There are many tourist attraction in Lake Ashino. Hakone town which is the located around lake Ashino is built long time ago for the hotel village on Tokaido road. It was the gate way from Kyoto to enter Kanto area, so there are many historic trace are still preserved. It is the best spot to see Mt. Fuji in Kanagawa.

There are many public parking. In the new years day, the University Marathon "Hakone Ekiden" is held.

Lake Ashino

Lake Ashino is one of the best spot to see Mt.Fuji. Because it was used be the volcano, there are many hot springs. Motohakone, Gora, Hakoneyumoto, and Owakudani are well known as hot spring town. There are many hiking courses which lead hikers to the great view of Mt. Fuji. You don't need to hike some of the view spots. You can just reach there by car or ropeway to the top of Mt. Hakone.
