Kisegawa Yahata Shrine (黄瀬川八幡神社) is a shrine located in Shimizu Town, Shizuoka. It was established in Heian period. In 1180, Kamakura Shogun Yoritomo settled his headquarter here for the battle of Fujigawa. Because of Yoritomo's victory, many Shogun and Samurai warshipped this shrine.

Kisegawa Yahata Shrine

Enshrines: Hondawakenomikoto (Emperor Onin)

In 1180, Minamoto no Yoritomo rise his army to defeat Heike clan. All of lords of Kanto Region became the side of Yoritomo. In November 1180, Yoritomo settled his headquarter here at this srhine. After the battle of Fujigawa, Yoritomo met his own brother Yoshitsune at this place. There are stones that they used for the chairs.

When Tokugawa Ieyasu change the route of Tokaido from Ashigara to Hakone, this shrine is on the pass. Therefore, many travelers visited this shrine since ever.
