Hashihaka Kofun

Hashihaka Kofun (箸墓古墳) is one of mausoleums located in Sakurai, Nara Prefecture. Archaeologist said this might be the Kofun of Queen Himiko. Queen Himiko is the ruler of ancient Japan that appears in Chinese record. This Kofun is about 278m long and 30m tall front square back circle Kofun. It was constructed in middle of 3rd century.

Tourist Info.
There is parking and but no restroom.

DO NOT Enter the Kofun.

0. at Nara Station.
1. use JR Sakurai Line to Makimuku Station.
2. walk south (20 min.)

Hashihaka Kofun

Hashihaka Kofun is one of front square back circle Kofun located in Nara. It is Kofun of the royal princess of 7th Emperor Korei. Archaeologist said this might be the Kofun of Queen Himiko.

Queen Himiko
She is the ruler of Yamataikoku that appears in the Chinese History record as the nation of Japan. She sent her messangers to China in 239 and she became the queen of Japan by the Chinese Emperor. She died in 248.
