Chidokan (致道館) is the Samurai School located in Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture. It was established in 1805 by Sakai Tadaari, the lord of Shonai domain. All Samurai of Shonai Domain gathered here and studied and trained as Samurai. The gate, the Confucian Temple, the Lecture Hall, the office of the lord and the back gate are remaining and registered as the national historic site.

Chidokan
Chidokan is the remaining Samurai located in Sakai, Yamagata Prefecture. It was built by the 9th lord of Sakai clan, Sakai Tadanori in 1805 for training strong Samurai. It is the only remaining Samura School in Tohoku region. The gate, the Confucian Temple, the Lecture Hall, the office of the lord and the back gate are remaining and registered as the national historic site.

Class of Samurai
Kutousho: For the elementary kids from 10 years old. They studied the basic reading and writing.
Shujitsuzume: the junior high. They studied history, literature and basic manners.
Gaisya: the high school.They studied history, literature, and strategy books.
Shisyasei: the college school. Samurai studies by themselves.
Syasei: the master school. Study more special category.

The office of the lord of Shonai domain: The room of the castle lord.
The Main gate: Only the lord of the castle and high-rank Samurai could enter from here.
The Western gate: Teachers and the officers entered from here.
