The birth house of Basho (芭蕉翁生家) is located in Iga, Mie prefecture. Basho is known as the Haiku Master.
He was born in this house in 1644. He traveled all over Japan and wrote many beautiful poems.
The structures are the same as when he was growing up.

Matsuo Basho was born in Iga in 1644. This house remains the structure of the old time when Basho was growning up. It is very typical Nagaya style house.
There is a tea house called Chougetsuken where Basho wrote his first Haiku book. Whenever, he returned to Iga, he always stayed at this tea house.
