Kawaguchi Asama Shrine (河口浅間神社) is one of the Mt. Fuji UNESCO World Heritage sites located in Kawaguchiko, Yamanashi Prefecture. It was established after the eruption of Mt. Fuji in 864 to pray for the stopping disaster and quietness for the peace in this region. Since then, this shrine protects the region and always pray for the quietness of Mt. Fuji.

Kawaguchi Asama Shrine
Enshrines: Konohanasakuyahime (the goddess of Mt. Fuji)
Reitaisai: April 25, and July 28

Kawaguchi Asama Shrine is one of the oldest shrines in Yamanashi Prefecture. It was established in 865 after the eruption of Mt. Fuji in 864. That eruption caused serious damage to all the regions surrounding Mt. Fuji, and this shrine was established to pray for calming down of Mt. Fuji.

Today, it is registered as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Main Building
It was reconstructed in 1607.

There are 7 over 1200 years old sacred Cedar trees.
