Reitaisai: April 25, and July 28
Kawaguchi Asama Shrine is one of the oldest shrines in Yamanashi Prefecture. It was established in 865 after the eruption of Mt. Fuji in 864. That eruption caused serious damage to all the regions surrounding Mt. Fuji, and this shrine was established to pray for calming down of Mt. Fuji.
Today, it is registered as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
It was reconstructed in 1607.
There are 7 over 1200 years old sacred Cedar trees.
