Mibu Temple

Mibu Temple (壬生寺) is Risshu Buddhism temple located in Kyoto. It is also known as Shinsengumi related spot. It was established in 991 by Priest Kaiken. The principal of image is Jizobosatu made in Heian period. It is also place of Mibu Kyogen that is over 700 years old theatrical act. In the end of Edo period, Shinsengumi stayed at this temple. There are graves of soldiers of Shinsengumi who died at Kyoto, and other unit commanders.

Museum open: 8:30 to 16:30
Admission of the museum: 200 yen for adult, 100 yen for under high school.
Admission for Mibuzuka of Shinsengumi: 100 yen.

Mibu Temple

Mibudera is Rishu Buddhism established in 991 by Priest Kaiken. There are 8 buildings and some of them are designated as the important cultural assets. Mibukyogen has history of over 700 years old. The act performs from April 21 to 29, Reisai of October, and Feb 2 and 3.

The museum displays the craft arts and treasures of the temple. It has also Shinsengumi related items.

Mibudera is also known as Shinsengumi Spot. They organized at this temple, and when they stayed in Kyoto, they stayed at this place. In the temple, young soldiers of Shinsengumi practiced sword fighting. There is a grave of Shinsengumi.
